A Garden in Winter

January 1, 2017

Few people spend long, lazy days in the garden this time of year.  I can't blame them really, what with frigid temperatures and wind chill factors.  But the few hardy souls who venture out in this time of year are rewarded with the site of winter birds feeding on the berries left in the garden. Holly, juniper viburnum and winterberry, usually used to "deck the halls" during the holidays-- all make excellent food sources for cardinals, junkos and other birds present in the New England winter landscape.
